Paarl – Commercial Wine Farm

This project encompassed the electrical and legal compliance audit, Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC), and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) of a 50 kVA x 61.44 kWh x 52.8 kWp hybrid three-phase solar photovoltaic (PV) system. An upgrade was also performed on the 130-meter grid feed infrastructure cabling to ensure compatibility and optimal performance.

The comprehensive solution enables our client to:

  • Harness renewable energy efficiently.
  • Optimise grid power consumption.
  • Build resilience against unplanned loadshedding and blackouts.

The system integrates solar power generation with battery storage to achieve optimal energy management. Key features include:

  • Solar Power Generation: A 52.8 kWp PV system captures solar energy during the day, maximising renewable energy usage.
  • Energy Storage: A 61.44 kWh Lithium-Ion battery stores solar energy for use during peak demand periods or loadshedding.
  • Grid Integration: Excess energy generated by the PV system is exported to the Eskom utility grid, where it is registered as credits, further enhancing energy efficiency.

This advanced hybrid solution empowers the client to:

  • Enhance energy independence.
  • Reduce reliance on grid power.
  • Support their commitment to sustainable transformation by leveraging renewable energy sources.

This project highlights our ability to deliver tailored, innovative energy solutions that align with our clients’ sustainability goals while ensuring operational reliability and efficiency.

Paarl – Engineering and Implementation of a New Mains Supply Network

DM Eng was entrusted with the engineering design, supply, installation, and commissioning of a new mains supply network for our client. The project addressed a critical challenge: the existing main distribution board (MDB) was located 130 meters away from the point where the full transformer capacity was required, resulting in inefficiencies. To resolve this, DM Eng replaced the outdated overhead supply network with a modern buried supply system, ensuring improved reliability and safety. A brand-new main distribution board was meticulously designed, fabricated, and installed at the new full-load distribution point, delivering optimal performance for the client’s requirements. This project showcased DM Eng’s ability to deliver tailored, end-to-end solutions that enhance efficiency and future-proof infrastructure for our clients.

Montagu – Large Residential

One of our notable projects involved the EPC and O&M of a 24 kVA three-phase hybrid renewable energy storage system. This comprehensive solution features a 12 000 Watt peak (Wp) solar photovoltaic (PV) system paired with a 33-kWh Lithium Ion Phosphate (LiFePO4) battery storage unit, enabling the client to harness renewable energy efficiently.

The system was designed to integrate solar power generation and battery storage, allowing for optimal energy management. The 12 kWp PV system captures solar energy during the day, which is then stored in the Lithium-Ion battery for use during peak demand periods or during loadshedding. Excess PV energy is exported to non-essential loads such as pottery ovens, central air-conditioning units and Electric Vehicle chargers.

This feature not only enhances the client’s energy independence but also supports their commitment to sustainable transformation.

At DM ENG, we remain dedicated to advancing the adoption of renewable energy technologies across various sectors, contributing to a more sustainable future for all.

Strand – Residential

This notable project involved the installation of an 8 kVA single-phase hybrid renewable energy system tailored for a residential client. This comprehensive solution features an 8000 Wp solar PV system, complemented by a 16.5 kWh lithium-ion phosphate battery storage unit, providing the homeowner with a reliable and efficient energy management solution.

The system was designed to effectively integrate solar energy generation with battery storage. The PV system captures sunlight to generate renewable energy, which is stored in the 16.5 kWh lithium-ion phosphate battery for use during times of peak consumption and loadshedding.

A key feature of this hybrid system is its ability to export excess power to non-essential loads, such as air conditioners and swimming pool pumps. This capability allows the client to optimise their energy usage, reducing reliance on grid power during peak demand times and lowering overall energy costs.

This project exemplifies our expertise in delivering customised renewable energy solutions that empower clients to achieve their sustainability goals while enhancing energy efficiency. At DM ENG, we remain dedicated to advancing the adoption of renewable energy technologies across various sectors, contributing to a more sustainable future for all.
